Matthew Guess, MD, has practiced with Alaska Retinal Consultants since 2016.
Dr. Guess earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Ohio (Toledo, Ohio). Dr. Guess completed Jackson Memorial Hospital’s General Surgery Internship and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s Ophthalmic Pathology Fellowship at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine (Miami, Florida).
Dr. Guess completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Indiana University (Indianapolis, Indiana), where he served as a Resident Representative and selected as Chief Administrative Resident during his final year. He completed his fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery at Cincinnati Eye Institute (Cincinnati, Ohio). Dr. Guess is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Prior to serving as a Retina Specialist at Alaska Retinal Consultants, Dr. Guess provided ophthalmological care at Ophthalmic Associates in Anchorage, Alaska, from 2009-2016.
He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Guess previously served as Providence Medical Center’s Surgery Subsection Chair for Ophthalmology and is a current Board Member at Geneva Woods Surgical Center.
